Argentina holds off Nigeria

06/12/2010 - Johannesburg, South Africa (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Gabriel Heinz's goal in the sixth minute was enough to lead Argentina to a 1-0 win over Nigeria at Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday in Group B play.

Heinz headed home the lone goal from a Juan Veron corner kick, while Lionel Messi missed a number of quality scoring chances that could have further increased Argentina's lead.

Nigeria didn't generate much offensively until the final 20 minutes when Taye Taiwo and Kalu Uche both went close with shots from inside the penalty area.

Earlier in Group B play South Korea downed Greece, 2-0, leaving South Korea and Argentina on top of the group with three points apiece.

Although the Golden Bears are listed as 7.5-point favorites, the Sun Devils are 3-0, lead the nation in sacks with 18 and possess the Pac-10's leading passer in sophomore quarterback Rudy Carpenter.
