08/22/2007 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Lefty Kason Gabbard makes his fifth start with the Texas Rangers this afternoon, when they play a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.

The three-game series was scheduled to begin Monday, but the opener was rained out and rescheduled for today. John Rheinecker will start for Texas and Garrett Olson goes for Baltimore in the nightcap.

Gabbard began the season with wins in his first four starts with the Boston Red Sox before heading to the Rangers in a trade deadline deal that sent reliever Eric Gagne to the Red Sox.

He split his initial two decisions with Texas, then got no-decisions in has last two, including a 6 2/3-inning stint against Minnesota on August 17 in which he allowed five hits and a run.

Gabbard pitched 4 2/3 innings and got a no-decision against Baltimore in his lone career matchup with the Orioles, allowing five hits and no runs.

Daniel Cabrera goes for the Orioles in the opener of the twinbill.

The 26-year-old Dominican defeated the New York Yankees, 12-0, in his last start, allowing two hits in 6 2/3 scoreless innings.

Cabrera won a career-high 12 games in 2004, then won 10 in 2005 before sliding to nine last season in 26 starts.

He is also 1-5 in seven career starts against the Rangers with a 5.73 earned run average in 37 2/3 innings.

On Tuesday, lefty Erik Bedard got his 13th straight start without a loss and tied the Orioles all-time single-season strikeout record with 218, as Baltimore downed the Rangers, 6-2.

Bedard (13-4) allowed two runs on five hits without walking a batter over seven innings, and is tied with Mike Mussina who tallied 218 K's in 1997. He was 4-4 following a 6-1 loss to Colorado in an interleague game on June 10. He's 9-0 with four no-decisions since, allowing two earned runs or less 10 times.

Miguel Tejada and Aubrey Huff homered for the Orioles, who were in Toronto over the weekend and dropped a 3-2 decision in 10 innings of the rubber match on Sunday.

Nelson Cruz and Jason Botts hit two straight RBI doubles for Texas, which has lost four of five after a three-game winning streak. Sammy Sosa ended 0-for-4 in his first time playing at Camden Yards since he left in 2005.

Right-hander Vicente Padilla (3-9) allowed six runs on seven hits with four walks over five frames in his second start since returning from the disabled list for Texas.
